Barnaby the Barn Owl
I have a lovely friend who works far too hard and needs nice treats to chipper her up, unfortunately I cannot bake for her on command but I can send her a cheeky illustration. This is Barnaby the Barn Owl, he loves to accessorize and wears his fez come rain or shine. Nobody's quite sure why he choose a Fez but I'm pretty sure its because he is a devoted fan of The Madness.
The lady in question loved her post and is alex, she can be found here - nuff chat - Barnaby is pretty happy as he was looking for a new bird and alex is right up his street.
Victoria Sponge
My housemates 21st came around pretty fast and there is a deadline looming so I whipped up this Victoria Sponge pretty fast! Me and the gang are planning to enjoy this with a fine cup a' Yorkshire Tea.
200g Self-rasising Flour
200g Caster Sugar
200g Butter
1 tsp Milk
4 eggs
Plenty of Jam
Fresh Cream & Raspberries
Sift the flour into a bowl, then add the rest and mix. Divide the mixture between two cake tins and pop in a preheated oven on 200c/gas mark 6 it should take 25-30 minutes. Then once cool add the jam first then whipped up fresh cream, pop your top on, then pile on the scrummy raspberries!

Short but sweet
Here at the brown owl bakery we have been reminiscing over summer. It was short but very sweet, full of eating out, bbq's, camping, parties and going to gigs with the best bunch of friends a girl could ask for. But now its over and the winter chill has truly set in, so heres a lovely printed towel from to dry for to cheer up the dullest and chillist of winter days.
Brown Owl Bakery
When I was younger my friends used to drink panda pops and pass around recipe chain letters. Now they drink Old Rosie and pass on zines about music. I thought to myself hey this might be a novel idea - a bakery zine, so here you have it the idea that sparked off a lot of baking and illustrating while I should really be doing my degree. The first zine is currently being made, and will be ready for the new year (you can never rush beautiful things). I will be using this blog to update you with the process and things that we at the Brown Owl Bakery have found when looking around for inspiration.
